Today’s Toy Haul: The Penguin [Batman Returns DC Multiverse Action Figure] (October 21, 2019)

img_2764Posting this one before calling it a night.  I just know if I put it off, I’ll never get it done.

The Penguin

When people my age think about The Penguin, one singular image comes to mind: Danny DeVito in 1992’s Batman Returns.  Similar visual comparisons have also been made to the version that eventually appeared in Batman: The Animated Series.

It was (and still is) a truly iconic image of The Penguin.

In fact, the only other version of the character that would have the same kind of impact (with me) would be the Arkhamverse Penguin. Nolan North’s voice performance (Arkham Origins, Arkham City, Arkham Knight) all but sealed that deal. Toy Review: Disney Pixar Cars 3 Die-Cast Mini Racers [Series 1] and my initial foray into the world of Podcasting (July 23, 2017)

Audio 001 – Toy Review: Disney Pixar Cars 3 Die-Cast Mini Racers [Series 1]

Last July 17, 2017, the family and I caught a late afternoon showing of Cars 3[i] before proceeding to a nearby department store in order to check out some of their Disney Pixar Cars 3 merchandise on display.

Strategically displayed by the escalator, there was a host of Cars 3 eye candy.  But the one that caught my eye was the Series 1 Disney Pixar Cars 3 Die-Cast Mini Racers.  These blind bag items retailed for about P149.50 so I decided to pick up a couple of bags for this review.[ii]

CapWolf finds a new home (May 21, 2017)

Ah, CapWolf.

The CapWolf head joins my other artifacts.  | Want a challenge? Can you name all the 19 artifacts in this picture? How about the toy lines that I took them from?

Another addition to my personal collection.[i]

For those of you who may be too young or unaware of the history of CapWolf, it is a Captain America (Volume 1) story that ran for six issues (#402-#407) way back in 1992.   The gist of the story: Captain America turns into a werwolf and dukes it out with Logan.  After the dust settles, Cap manages to regain human form.

I know.  It not one of the better ideas of the early 90’s but it was certainly one of the more memorable ones…so memorable in fact that it was released as a graphic novel a couple or so years ago. Continue reading “CapWolf finds a new home (May 21, 2017)”
