Noel shares his Larry Joe Bird experience during The Tedi31 Podcast.  I hate to admit it, but I’m jealous.

In Season 1 | Episode 11 of The Tedi31 Podcast with Dr. Tedi Villasor, Tedi speaks with veteran sportscaster Noel Zarate.  Zarate, along with several other local sportscasters, established the Center for Sports Communication (CSC) [2001] and Newbies Broadcasting Academy [2018].  In 2020, he hosts “An Eternity of Basketball” podcast along with Atty. Charlie T. Cuna and Sid Ventura.

During our conversation, Noel shared how he got into the field of radio and television broadcasting, his experience calling the 2013 NBA Global Games at the Mall of Asia Arena, thoughts on the ESPN 10-part documentary: The Last Dance, the July 2020 NBA restart, and stories about NBA Greats like Dennis Rodman, Larry Joe Bird, Steve Nash, Luc Longley, and the late Kobe Bean Bryant.

One of the topics that PBA Hall of Famer Allan Caidic and I talked about was the flow state.

For (Season 1 | Episode 10) of The Tedi31 Podcast with Dr. Tedi Villasor, I had the opportunity to talk with one of the most decorated players every to grace the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA)–The Triggerman: Allan Caidic.

Coach Allan is a 5-time member of the Philippine National Team, a member of the PBA’s 25 and 40 greatest players of all-time, a PBA Hall of Famer (Class of 2009), and author (My Life: Allan Caidic The Triggerman [2006]).

During our conversation, Coach Allan touched on a number of topics: From his basketball influences, to his pre-game regiments, and even his motivational benchmarks during his playing career.

As he looks towards the future, Coach Allan lets us in on his next move.

For (Season 1 | Episode 9) of The Tedi31 Podcast with Dr. Tedi Villasor, I had the opportunity to sit down with Blackwater Elite Sports Director and Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) Alternate Governor Ariel Vanguardia.

Coach Vanguardia has been involved in coaching for more than 20 years across several leagues.  During his time in the ASEAN Basketball League (ABL), he captured the 2014-2015 Coach of the Year award and the 2015-2016 league championship with the Wesports Malaysia Dragons.

Tim is an veteran of the local cosplaying scene as well as an international cosplayer (New York Comic Con 2018).  He has also done a lot of outreach work as a volunteer for Make-A-Wish Philippines.

After braving through some heavy traffic and humid weather in the Manila/Quiapo Church area, the Lindol Comics team arrived at Far Eastern University (FEU) with more than enough time to set up our tables and get settled for our scheduled talks.

Retitled, “Usapang Komiks: Si Kenkoy, ang DI-13, at ang pagsulat ng sarili mong komiks[i],” Damy “Ian” Velasquez III, got the alternative learning class going with his talk entitled,“Si Kenkoy, DI-13 at ang “Golden Age ng Komiks.”  Ian, a former professor at FEU and the grandson of Komiks pioneers Damy and Tony Velasquez, gave an informative view of a number of landmark Filipino Komiks and their creators.

Velasquez also gave some insight on his debut indie comic book entitled, The New DI-13 (with legend Rico Rival on art).  He explained that he was inspired in part to write The New DI-13 as a means of honouring and continuing his family’s rich history in the Philippine Komiks landscape. For (Season 1 | Episode 3) of The Tedi31 Podcast with Dr. Tedi Villasor, I traveled to Tia Maria’s Sining at Kultura in beautiful San Pablo, Laguna for a sit down with the creative team of BakokakGerry Alanguilan and Kevin Ray Valentino.

With ten books underneath his belt, Gerry shared some of his writing insights and upcoming projects. Kevin also let’s us in on what’s has been keeping him busy since the release of Bakokak in November 2017.
