That Steady Starbucks Diet: Procuring that 2018 Starbucks Planner (December 10, 2017)

2018 Starbucks Planner

Ready for 2018: Pictured are large and pocket-sized 2018 Starbucks Planners and their Special Edition debt cards. They are housed in the brown pouches that came with the 2017 Starbucks Planner.

As I write this entry, I am immediately reminded of Michael Coreleone’s (Al Pacino) famous line from Godfather III,

Just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in.

Granted, Coreleone was referring to his waning attempt towards legitimize his business and professional affairs, but I have always felt that my annual quest to procure yet another Starbucks Planner (or two) resonates just as loudly.

Every year it is the same story and—for better or for worse—it usually results in the same outcome…with just a different year on the cover.

The thing is, as much as I like the annual planners, I know that this cannot go on forever.  There is only so much joy (and calories) that a watered down Green Tea Frappuccino and Roasted Chicken Pesto and Shitake Mushroom sandwich[i] can bring. Factoring in the financial cost, it makes it just that more difficult to sustain indefinitely.

Don’t get me wrong; I am not throwing shade (as the current lingo would dictate) at the 2018 Starbucks Planner. I love Starbucks! My beef is more on what I have to consume and spend to get it.

Ha! Maybe next year, I’ll just buy one outright from somebody online.

But where would be the fun it that?

Ack!

Dipping into Scribe Writing Essentials

A couple of months before the November/December planner promos, I actually did make an effort in creating that perfect planner.

With the help of Scribe Writing Essentials’ healthy selection of planners and options (e.g., blank notebooks, calendar notebooks, grid lined notebooks, card holders, zipper pockets, elastic bands, etc.), I felt that I had finally put together that one planner that would rule them all so to speak.

Then I saw the dust jackets of the 2018 Starbucks planner: Then I was hooked…again!

Last year it was those brown clothed zipper bags (pictured above).

Another year it was that metallic page separator.

Every year that is always something new that seems to pull me back in.

Addendum:

As part of an ongoing project, I will be posting new content on the website once-a-week.  Hopefully, the weekly ritual will get my writing gears moving again and I can muster more than one post a week.  Till then, Sic Parvis Magna (Latin for “Greatness, from small beginnings).

Merry Christmas guys!

LlaoLlao: My new go-to frozen yogurt (July 16, 2017)

Our LlaoLlao frozen yogurt run the day before[i] was so amazing that my Mom and I decided to go for an encore today–this time at their Megamall branch.

An added incentive for going back was LlaoLlao’s signature green spoons which I plan on collecting and reusing. Read more…
