Known to some people as ‘the Facebook of people in professional occupations,’ the purpose of LinkedIn.com is for users to build an contact network–up to the 3rd degree–of individuals with whom they have had some measure of a relationship.
In many respects, it can also serve as an online resume backed by recommendations given/requested from one’s ‘contact network’ or ‘connections.’
